"The National Coalition of Homeless Veterans serves to empower homeless veterans so they can support themselves."

National Veterans Association runs a toll free hotline for veterans. "An initial call or e-mail to the NVF Lifeline is met with a live, immediate response--no automated messages. Our call center team, currently comprised of 8 fellow veterans and 3 civilians, listens, immediately assesses the emotional state of the caller, identifies additional service needs, and where appropriate, conferences in 3rd parties that can help.

"Operation Helping HEAL Inc., provides financial assistance to wounded service men and women returning from our current overseas military operations. During the Vietnam War there were 4 wounded to every soldier killed in action. Thanks to advances in medicine, body armor and logistics, today’s ratio is twelve wounded to a single deceased. Our current system is unprepared to handle the high numbers of wounded servicemen. The severity and scope of the conflicts have exceeded our government’s estimation, and as a result, many of our soldiers are falling through the cracks."

PMIM is a service organization with an evangelical purpose. Keeping Jesus Christ the focal point PMIM acts as a referral service to connect hurting veterans and their families to our Outpost and Home Front system for continued support and fellowship. These support groups are available at no charge, and utilize the gospel of Jesus Christ and Biblical principles to facilitate healing and restoration.

Founded in 1974, Swords to Plowshares is a community-based, not-for-profit organization that provides counseling and case management, employment and training, housing, and legal assistance to more than 1500 homeless and low-income veterans annually in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. We promote and protect the rights of veterans through advocacy, public education, and partnerships with local, state, and national entities.

VFA focuses specifically on the signature wounds these conflicts: psychological traumas and traumatic brain injuries. VFA concentrates much of its attention on the needs of those who are currently serving in the military since the majority of those who have seen combat in Iraq and Afghanistan are still in the military and under the care of the Department of Defense."
